Chef Lou Aaron, owner of Westside Drive-In and a Deacon at Our Lady of the Rosary parish in Boise, returns for his weekly "Cooking With Scripture" segment on Morning Light.  In honor of Mardi Gras, he prepares Eggs Benedict with a rich, creamy hollandaise sauce.  Then, he shares Scripture readings on butter.

Questions for Day 13:  Just as Satanic possession is real, so is possession by God in holiness.  What progress are you making toward being “possessed” by Mary, so you can grow in holiness? How can the ideal of winning the world for the Immaculata be made appealing to a wider audience?  Finally, love and trust are always partners. What experiences with trust have you had in the past?

Today’s prayer:  “Come, Holy Spirit, living in Mary. Unveil for me the meaning of the Immaculate Conception..”  

Questions for Day 10:  Within the Trinity, God is love and God loves himself.  How can we imitate this? And why would we want to? How do we prepare for eternal union with God in heaven?  How might Mary intercede with the Holy Spirit about issues of modern marriage and the family?

Today’s prayer:  “Come, Holy Spirit, living in Mary. Unveil for me the meaning of the Immaculate Conception..”  

Questions for Day 9:  St. Maximilian’s most important reflection happened just hours before his arrest.  Have you ever experienced a sudden or surprising understanding? Was it after or during prayer?  How did it change you or your situation?

Today’s prayer:  “Come, Holy Spirit, living in Mary.  Make me pure in body and spirit and help me to die to myself.”  

Questions for Day 8: Are you ready to ask Mary for her intercession and guidance in seeking holiness?  Can you think of examples in your life where you acted with purity of intention? Finally. St. Maximilian teaches us how we must die to self in order to live for the glory of God.  What aspects of your personal self will need to die and how can Mary and the Holy Spirit help you?

Questions for Day 7:  We must depend on supernatural help for bearing our crosses in life.  Do you have a list of crosses? How have you asked for supernatural help up to now?  We’ve heard the term “offer it up” for another person or some special intention.  How will this Marian consecration help with this aspect of your spiritual efforts?  Finally, “security” - we look for it everywhere: alarms for our homes and vehicles, online passwords, monitoring our credit cards, and so on.  Those protect physical life - what about Marian consecration gives you the most comfort and security?

   Chef Lou Aaron hosts a weekly segment on Morning Light called "Cooking With Scripture."  This week, Deacon Lou talks about onions in Biblical times while preparing a delicious onion marmalade served on toast with bleu cheese sprinkles.

Questions:  How is God teaching me to be generous? How have I taught others to be generous?  Do we trust Mary?  The way to learn to trust anyone is getting to know that person. What have you done to get to know Mary? Finally, as the first week comes to a close, what concerns or apprehensions do you still have?  Fear of the loss of control of your spiritual life by giving all to Mary? At what level is your self-concern interfering with your desire to draw close to Mary?

Day 3 questions:  Mary gave her whole life to doing God’s will and continues to do so from Heaven.  Ask yourself - “To what, if anything, have I given myself fully in the past?” Do we know what it means to “give myself fully”? St. Louis de Montfort says our Baptism is the most significant day of our lives.  Can you name some other significant days in your life? What relationships are reflected in those days?  Why does our relationship with God make our baptismal day so important? Finally, the humility of Mary humbles Satan even more than the divine power.  Are we ready to imitate Mary’s humility? Which of our friends or family do we find it the easiest to be humble?

Questions for Day 2:  In order for Mary, along with the Holy Spirit, to bring us to Jesus...we need to let go of always trying to do everything ourselves.  What is the first thing that you need to become detached from? Will it be difficult to detach? Will it take time? St. Pope John Paul II read St. Louis’ book “True Devotion to Mary” and called it a decisive turning point in his life.  What one or two books (besides the Bible) have had that kind of influence on your life?  Finally, no less than six Popes were influenced by the teachings of St. Louis de Montfort.  If you had your choice of someone to influence, who would it be and why?

   Jake Ineck returns to Morning Light with his segment on "Sacred Music."  In this edition, he shares two pieces of music based on the Our Father.  First, a chant of "Pater Noster" in Latin and then the popular "As It Is in Heaven" by Matt Maher.

QUESTIONS:  Consider the place where you grew up and your birth family. How did that contribute to...or provide obstacles to...your growth in holiness and your desire to belong more completely to the Blessed Mother?  Consider your motives to begin this retreat with us - have you asked Mary to start a divine fire in your heart for Jesus?  What obstacles might she find there that would interfere? How will you overcome those obstacles?
